A deep personal appreciation for, and fascination with, the intrinsic and developmental beauty of nature and the universe inspired my work and education as a scientist in cell biology and botany, and today inspires my creative work as an artist.
Just as observation of a single cell reveals exquisite and elegant complexity, my watercolor paintings and mixed-media art invite a lingering study of organic and inorganic elements as well as the patterns they form in time and space within a whole. My artistic perspective may be either a macro or micro view of the world. Either way, I always seek to convey the interplay of the seen and the unseen, the known and the inferred, and to extend an invitation to seek, explore and experience that which has yet to be discovered.
